Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina - The "4th Regional Collective Training Event Planning Workshop in support of Regional Exercise (REGEX) 16” took place 14-18 Mar, 2016.
The workshop was conducted in the Sarajevo and Banja Luka with the participation of 40 partners from 15 countries.
This time the participants came from: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Jordan, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, Pakistan, Serbia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*, Tunisia, Ukraine and United Arab Emirates. Also representatives from the European Union Force and the NATO Headquarters Sarajevo attended.
Regional Exercise (REGEX) is a NATO-supported opportunity for partner countries to plan an exercise from the beginning to the end, according to their training requirements. Bosnia and Herzegovina took lead for REGEX 16 with a peace support operation scenario, marking the first time REGEX will hosted by a partner country.
This 4th workshop included the execution of Main Planning Conference and a Real Life Support team site survey visit to Execution Phase area Manjaca, which is located in the city of Banja Luka, on 14-16 March 2016. Joint Staff Armed Forces Bosnia and Herzegovina led the syndicate works while JFC Naples' Subject Matter Experts mentored all sessions.
JFC Naples is planning to conduct three more workshops and an Execution Phase in 2016. This initiative supports NATO objectives and builds trust and understanding for a better cooperation in the region and promotes increasing interoperability within NATO.
