CINCU, Romania – Multinational Division Southeast Headquarters (HQ MND-SE) and NATO Force Integration Unit Romania (NFIU ROU) personnel are supporting exercise SABER GUARDIAN 16 July 27 – August 1, 2016. The exercise is being held at the Romanian Land Forces Combat Training Center "GETICA”, in Cincu.
Saber Guardian 16 is a multinational exercise under U.S. European Command’s Joint Exercise Program. In total there are about 2,700 Soldiers from 10 different NATO and partner nations participating in the exercise.
"When talking about training process optimization, about Live Fire Exercise (LFX), Command Post Exercise (CPX) / Computer Assisted Exercise (CAX) in terms of strengthening interoperability between our military, Saber Guardian is more than welcomed,” said Romanian Minister of Defense, Mr. Mihnea Motoc.
During the exercise, HQ MND-SE and NFIU ROU personnel augmented by Subject Matter Experts from Bulgaria, Ukraine and United States of America act as higher echelon for the subordinate units. This exercise helps prepare participants to operate successfully in a joint, multinational environment and provides a good opportunity to train commanders and staff in the development of combined planning and conduct of military operations.
The exercise supports interoperability between Romania, the United States, NATO Allies and Partnership for Peace nations.
"Saber Guardian 16 is a clear demonstration of readiness with a credible collective defense scenario that includes a command post exercise, field exercise, and Live Fire Exercise on the world-class Romanian Training Center,” said CO-Director for the Exercise, Colonel Robert Bertrand. "Transparency is everything we do, and we are always relying on our Allies and Partners.”
