Serbia instigates stability in the Balkans

"Serbia is a place that instigates stability in the Balkans” said Brigadier General Cesare Marinelli at the conference titled "Cooperation of the Serbian Armed Forces with the Armed Forces of the NATO Member States" organized by the Atlantic Council of Serbia with the support of the US Embassy in Belgrade.

Brigadier General Marinelli underlined the importance of developing good and productive long-lasting relationships and complimented Serbia on its participation in peacekeeping operations, the country's continuous dedication to the reform of security forces and institutions done in the cooperation with NATO, in addition to joint efforts of scientists working side by side, looking for innovative solutions to common security problems.

"It is up to Serbia to decide if it wants to join NATO or not, while NATO will continue to work together with Serbia in areas where both see value, especially through the Individual Partnership Action Plan, that gives foundation to cooperation and dialogue, but does not impose Serbian membership to NATO”.

With this kind of cooperation, with NATO fully respecting the policy of neutrality, Serbia has joined the group of countries such as Finland, Switzerland, Sweden and Austria that closely cooperate with the Alliance but are not members.
