Colonel Rocco MUNDO attended Military Academy of Italian Army in Modena and Junior Army Officer School in Turin from 1997 to 2001.
In 2002 he served as Platoon Commander and Deputy Company Commander at the 8th Bersaglieri Regiment. In July 2004, he was assigned to the "Nunziatella" Military School in Naples as a Cadet Platoon Commander.
In March 2007, following his promotion to Captain, he was assigned to the 1st Bersaglieri Regiment, where he served as Infantry Company Commander and Service Support Company Commander.
At the end of the 138th General Staff Course, he was reassigned to the 1st Bersaglieri Regiment, where he was S3/7 Chief and afterward S4 chief.
After attending the 12th Joint Services Staff Course, he was appointed G5 Branch Chief of "GARIBALDI" Bersaglieri Headquarter.
In 2019, he assumed the command of the 11th Bersaglieri Battalion "Caprera".
From November 2020 to September 2023, he served in the Operational Land Forces Command and Army Operational Command.
Promoted to the rank of Colonel, since 22 September 2023, he has been the Commander of the 62nd Infantry Regiment "SICILIA" in Catania.
He has been the Commander of Regional Command West since 30 July 2024.
He has participated in Homeland Security operations such as "Domino" and "Strade Sicure", and NATO Crisis Response Operation in Kosovo, Bosnia and Afghanistan as Platoon Commander, Company Commander and also Battalion Commander .
Graduated in Strategic Sciences at the University of Turin and in Political Sciences at the University of Trieste, he later obtained a Master's Degree in Strategic and Military International Studies at University of Rome.
