Colonel Francesco Maioriello was born in 1974, in Turin. After attending the Italian Army Academy and the Army Officers School (1993-1998), he graduated Artillery First Lieutenant, and was employed in the Field Artillery Regiment "a Cavallo", in Milan (1998-2003).
He served, at first, as Battery Deputy Commander, and then, as Battery Commander and Chief Operation Center. During this period, he also took part in the "Domino" Operation, in Milan, as Company Commander, and in KFOR, as the Italian Company Commander of the Tirana Sector
(Albania, in 2003).
Back from KFOR, in the summer of 2003, he moved to the Italian Military Academy, in Modena, to serve as Cadets Company Commander, and then as Staff Officer (2003-2007). In this period, he was also employed as UN Military Observer, in the context of UNMIS Operation, in Sudan (2006). In 2007, he moved to Rome and served as Staff Officer in the Italian Army General Staff, in the Personnel Branch, till 2014.
In 2014-2015, as Lieutenant Colonel, he commanded the 1st Battalion of the 41st Tactical Intelligence Regiment, after which he was employed again at the Army General Staff, as the Chief of the Officers' Recruitment and Career Cell, inside the Personnel Branch.
Promoted to the rank of Colonel, from June 2019 to June 2020, he attended the US Army War College, in Carlisle (Pennsylvania). Returning from the United States, on 10 July 2020, Colonel Maioriello assumed command of the 1 st Field Artillery Regiment (Mountain).
The Officer, in his career, attended several military courses, among which: the Army Staff College Course (2007), the Army Staff College – Pluritematico Course (2008-2009), the Joint Service Staff College Course (2011-2012), the Advanced Intelligence Course (2014), and lastly, the
aforementioned US Army War College (2019-2020).
Concerning his academic education, the Officer got: a Ph.D. in Public Law (curriculum in Philosophy of Law), at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" (2017); a master's degree in Strategic Studies, at the US Army War College, in Carlisle (Pennsylvania, 2020); a master's degree in
Strategic Science, at the University of Turin (2014); a master's degree in Law, at the University of Milan "Bicocca" (2009); a master's degree in Political Science, at the University of Turin (1998).
Moreover, in 2014, after a biennial internship at the Bar Association of Rome, he passed the State final examination to become a Lawyer, at the Court of Appeal of Rome.
Colonel Francesco Maioriello is married to Dr. Stefania Giuffrida and has a son, Simone (born in 2013).
