Regional Command-West (RC-W) is a NATO command, with headquarters at
Camp "Villaggio Italia", located near Peja/Pec in the western part of Kosovo.
RC-W structure is composed by 3 multinational elements: kinetic battalion,
non-kinetic battalion and a logistic support group in addition to the RC-W
headquarters.
The kinetic battalion represents the manoeuvring component of RC-W,
appointed to support local and international organisations (Kosovo Police and
EULEX) in case the security situation deteriorates in Kosovo. The manoeuvring
units can be rapidly deployed throughout RC-W Area of Responsibility (AoR),
operating to guarantee a safe and secure environment and freedom of
movement for all the people living in Kosovo.
The kinetic battalion also provides security at Visoky Decane Monastery as
"first responder".
Most of the kinetic component troops come from Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, Moldova, North Macedonia.
The non-kinetic battalion instead supports situational awareness and
communication campaign in RC-W AOR liaising with local authorities, IOs and
NGOs. It collaborates to the maintenance of a Safe and Secure Environment and
Freedom of Movement, monitoring and early identification of security, socio-
economic and political situations.
The non-kinetic battalion operates with assets called Liaison and Monitoring Teams
(LMTs), which significantly contribute to improve the relationships among all the
communities of the area but also to foster the citizens' credibility towards KFOR.
Troops from Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, Moldova, North Macedonia, Poland, Switzerland and Turkey take part in this unit.
RC-W is commanded by Italian Army Officer, Colonel Rocco MUNDO.
