Colonel Jason S. Baker

Colonel Jason S. Baker currently serves as the 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team Commander in Macon, GA, and as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations (G3) for the Georgia Army National Guard in Marietta, GA. 

Colonel Baker is from Indianapolis, Indiana, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Tuskegee University. He holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management, both from Webster University. Additionally, he obtained a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. 

Colonel Baker has held various command and staff positions, including up to the Combatant Command level. His most recent assignment was as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Personnel (G1), for the Georgia Army National Guard (2018-2022). Notably, he served as the Squadron Commander for the 1st-108th Cavalry Squadron, 48th IBCT. He also served as a brigade executive officer for the 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team during their deployment to Afghanistan in 2014 and again for the 78th Troop Command from 2016 to 2018. His combat experience includes deployments to Iraq in 2003 with the 101st Airborne Division and in 2006-2007 as an Individual Augmentee with an Iraqi Light Infantry Battalion. 

From October 2009 to September 2011, Colonel Baker served as Georgia's State Partnership Program Bilateral Affairs Officer in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia, assigned to United States Army European Command, J5. 

Colonel Baker's professional military education includes the Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course, Engineer Captain's Career Course, Intermediate Level Education, and the United States Army War College. He has also completed several additional skills identification courses, including the Joint and Combined Warfighter School-Hybrid and the Defense Strategy Course, making him fully Joint Qualified. 

His highest decorations include the Bronze Star Medal and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Colonel Baker is the recipient of awards from the Military Intelligence Corps, the National Infantry Association, and the Cavalry and Armor Association. He has also received the Meritorious Group Award from the United States Agency for International Development for civil-military cooperation.
