The KFOR conference on “Women, Peace and Security” continued for its second day

PRISTINA - The KFOR conference on “Women, Peace and Security” (WPS) continued for its second and final day, in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The event marks the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325.

Today’s panels focused on “National Action Plans” and “Equal Opportunities in Peacekeeping Operations”. The participants highlighted best practices and discussed recommendations to pave the way forward to effectively implement the provisions of the Resolution.

Syndicate leaders held small group discussions led by the Gender Advisors of OSCE, UNMIK, EULEX, EU and KFOR. One of the key conclusions was that stakeholders need to coordinate their actions on a regional level and across institutions to enhance the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda.

KFOR continues to implement its mandate - based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 - to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and impartially. KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Mission on Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX) in their respective roles as security responders.
