KFOR’s Italian Liaison Team Supports Autism Awareness in Kosovo

PRISTINA - Italian Liaison Monitoring Team soldiers, assigned to Regional Command East of the NATO-led KFOR mission, teamed up with the Italian “Kairos” NGO and the “Autizmi” NGO in Pristina, Kosovo, for a day of osteopathic treatments and activities for children with special needs. The “Autizmi” NGO aims to support individuals with autism and promote education about autism within Kosovo communities.

The United Nations General Assembly designated April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day in 2007 and has since worked to raise awareness and ensure equal opportunities for autistic individuals.

These efforts are part of KFOR’s daily commitment to supporting all communities within Kosovo.

KFOR continues to implement its mandate—based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999—to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and ensure freedom of movement at all times and impartially. KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Mission on Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX) in their respective roles as security responders.
