KFOR Welcomes Slovakia as New Troop Contributor

PRISTINA - A flag raising ceremony was held today at the Headquarters of the NATO-led KFOR mission, in Camp Film City, Pristina, to welcome the Slovak Republic as a troop contributing country.

KFOR consists now of over 4700 troops from 33 troop contributing countries, six of which joined KFOR in the last year and a half, including France and Portugal - in January and September 2024 respectively - and Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands last month.

KFOR’s Commander, Major General Enrico Barduani, presided over the ceremony. He welcomed Slovakia’s personnel and highlighted that this new addition is another, tangible demonstration of the Atlantic Alliance’s steadfast commitment to lasting security in Kosovo and regional stability.

KFOR continues to implement its mandate — based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 — to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and impartially. KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Mission on Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX) in their respective roles as security responders.
