KFOR U.S. Troops and Kosovo Rescuers Boost Emergency Response in Joint Training

PRISTINA - U.S. soldiers assigned to Regional Command East of the NATO-led KFOR mission joined together with members of the Kosovo Mountain Search and Rescue Association (a volunteer organisation providing rescue and assistance in the mountainous areas of Kosovo), conduct joint emergency management training. Hands on training and subject matter expert exchanges increases the preparedness and cooperation between KFOR troops and local emergency first responder agencies.

Training between the two organizations included first responder medical care, high elevation and mountain rescue, rappelling, and divers training.

KFOR continues to implement its mandate — based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 — to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and impartially. KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Mission on Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX) in their respective roles as security responders.
