KFOR EOD Specialists Mark National EOD Day with Inaugural Bomb Suit 5K Run

PRISTINA - Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) specialist from across Regional Command East of the NATO-led KFOR mission came together at Camp Novo Selo for the inaugural "KFOR EOD Bomb Suit 5K run".

The event took place shortly after National EOD Day, May 3rd—a day dedicated to honoring those who have lost their lives in the line of duty while disposing of explosives, as well as the EOD technicians.

EOD personnel from the United States, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy participated, running in full bomb suits and encouraging one another throughout the 5 kilometers.

Beyond physical endurance, the Bomb Suit 5K served to raise awareness for the sacrifices made by EOD technicians and spotlight meritorious organizations active in support of the EOD community.

KFOR continues to implement its mandate — based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 — to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and impartially. KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Mission on Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX) in their respective roles as security responders.
