KFOR Deputy Commander met with Mayor of Vitia

PRISTINA - The deputy commander of Regional Command East of the NATO-led KFOR mission, U.S.Army Lieutenant Colonel Evan Hessel, conducted a key leader engagement with the mayor of Viti/Vitina, Kosovo, Mr. Sokol Haliti.

Lt. Col. Hessel spoke about RC-E’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all people in Kosovo.

These engagements are part of KFOR’s regular interactions with the communities of Kosovo. KFOR remains politically neutral, and engagements like these help commanders gain awareness about their areas of responsibility.

KFOR continues to implement its mandate — based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 — to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and impartially. KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Mission on Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX) in their respective roles as security responders.
