Italian Soldiers Protecting the Cultural Heritage of Visoki Decani Monastery

PRISTINA - Italian soldiers of the NATO-led KFOR mission, renew their commitment every day in the sensitive task of protect and preserve Manastiri i Deçanit/Visoki Decane Monastery. 

UNESCO declared Manastiri i Deçanit/ Visoki Decane Monastery world heritage site in 2004 and KFOR soldiers defend all the time its artistic and cultural value. KFOR’s commitment to maintaining security and stability also involves the protection of this important international historical site. 

KFOR continues to implement its mandate - based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 - to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and impartially. KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Mission on Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX) in their respective roles as security responders.
