International Children’s Day Celebrations in Pristina

PRISTINA - On the International Children’s Day, the Commander of the NATO-led KFOR mission, Major General Enrico Barduani attended today, upon Ms. Vjosa Osmani's invitation, the Multicultural Children’s fair – “Heritage Through Little Hands” in the Courtyard of the Presidential Palace , in Pristina.

International Children's Day is a commemorative day honouring children worldwide, celebrated on June 1st. The day originated from the 1925 Geneva Proclamation at the World Conference on Child Welfare, aiming at promoting the well-being and rights of children.

General Barduani's attendance in the event testifies how KFOR recognizes children as a fundamental resource for the future of Kosovo.

KFOR continues to implement its mandate - based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 - to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and impartially. KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Mission on Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX) in their respective roles as security responders.
