COMKFOR Joins Finnish Defence Forces in Flag Day Celebration

PRISTINA - The Commander of the NATO-led KFOR mission, Major General Enrico Barduani, took part in the Flag Day celebration of the Finnish Defence Forces, held at KFOR Headquarters in Camp Film City, Pristina, in the presence of the Finnish Ambassador to Kosovo, His Excellency Matti Nissinen.

On 4 June, Finland commemorates the birth of Marshal C.G.E. Mannerheim, a legendary national hero and military leader. The day also honours the Defence Forces and their enduring service to the nation.

In his address, Major General Barduani stated that the legacy of Marshal Mannerheim lives on today, reflected in the dedication and professionalism of the Finnish troops, who have played a vital role in KFOR since the mission began in 1999.

KFOR continues to implement its mandate - based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 - to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and impartially. KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Mission on Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX) in their respective roles as security responders.
