KFOR Commander meets with EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional issues

Pristina, June 18, 2024 — The Commander of the NATO-led Kosovo Force, Major General Özkan Ulutaş met today (18 June 2024) with the EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional issues, Ambassador Miroslav Lajčák, at the European Union Office in Pristina.

They took stock of the very close cooperation and regular coordination between KFOR and the EU on the ground and discussed a range of topics of mutual interest affecting a safe and secure environment for all communities across Kosovo.

They reiterated their commitment to continue cooperation for the benefit of security across Kosovo and of regional stability. They also reaffirmed that any decision regarding the Mitrovica bridge should be taken within the framework of the EU- facilitated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, which NATO continues to support, including through KFOR’s efforts. This is key to the security of all communities. KFOR maintains a fixed presence on the Mitrovica bridge and conducts regular patrols in the surrounding areas.
