PRISTINA - Brigadier General Federico Bernacca, from the Italian Army, has completed his tenure as Deputy Commander of KFOR. He handed over to Brigadier General Cahit ÍRÍCAN, from Türkiye, at a ceremony held at KFOR Headquarters, in “Camp Film City”, in Pristina.
Brigadier General Bernacca’s tenure was marked by excellent results, as he played a vital role in fostering cooperation with representatives of the Kosovo security organizations and international organizations, and in overseeing many different aspects of KFOR’s daily contributions to lasting security across Kosovo and to regional stability.
KFOR Commander, Major General Enrico Barduani, praised Brigadier General Bernacca for his exemplary service: "Brigadier General Bernacca has demonstrated exceptional leadership and professionalism, during his time as Deputy Commander of NATO’s longest mission. His ability to navigate complex challenges with integrity and dedication has left a lasting impact on KFOR’s mission. He has set a high standard for future leaders."
Brigadier General Cahit ÍRÍCAN brings a wealth of experience in multinational operations and a strong commitment to upholding KFOR’s values. He has previously served in key operational roles within KFOR and the Turkish Armed Forces, making him well-prepared to take on this critical responsibility.
In his farewell remarks, Brigadier Bernacca said: "It has been an honor to serve alongside the dedicated men and women of KFOR. I am proud of what we have achieved together and I am confident that KFOR will continue to serve as a cornerstone of peace and security, for all people living in Kosovo. I leave knowing the mission is in capable hands with Brigadier General Cahit ÍRÍCAN."
