KFOR's Italian contingent in support of Kosovo's Health Institutions

Donation of medical and educational devices in favor of the pediatric oncology department in Pristina.

PRISTINA - Regional Command West (RC-W), based on the framework of the 9th Alpine Regiment, through the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) assets, made a major donation of medical and high tech equipment to the Pediatric Oncology Department of the University Hospital in Pristina.

Through the support of the Onlus "Vivere per Amare - Life to Love," provided pediatric venous catheters for chemotherapy treatment to the Kosovo hospital facility. In addition to the medical devices, 20 tablets were delivered to enable the young hospitalized patients to maintain contact with their loved ones and educational institutions.

The activity is part of the cooperation between KFOR, local institutions and the "Nicola Ciardelli" association, and aims to develop new clinical capacities as well as increase local health standards.

The support to the local health Institutions represents the concrete implementation of the motto of Mission KFOR XXVII Shaping the Presence for a better Future, i.e. laying the foundations to enable young people in particular to live a better future. Colonel Mario Bozzi, RC-W Commander, highlighted this in his greeting to the representatives of the hospital facility.

Men and women of the Italian Armed Forces, together with KFOR's multinational component, ensure freedom of movement and the maintenance of a safe and secure environment for the benefit of all communities in Kosovo, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
