New Deputy Commander in KFOR

Pristina - The NATO-led Kosovo Force has a new Deputy Commander (DCOM). Italian Brigadier General Luca PIPERNI took over the second position in KFOR's hierarchy from the Austrian Brigadier General Günter SCHÖPF who served for 13 months within KFOR.

During the ceremony KFOR Commander, Major General Ferenc KAJÁRI, addressing Brigadier General SCHÖPF stated that "Your help and your experience made it easier for me to get into the seat of the Commander, and your expert professionalism made me feel comfortable with you at my side". General KAJÁRI also remarked that General SCHÖPF has represented the continuity between the KFOR XXV and KFOR XXVI leadership. 

KFOR Commander concluded his discourse asserting that Brigadier General SCHÖPF holds all the considered crucial values in the military: Duty, Reliability, Commitment and welcomed Brigadier General PIPERNI.Major General KAJÁRI awarded General SCHÖPF the NATO Non-Article 5 Medal.

KFOR consist of 3,700 soldiers from 28 Nations, NATO Allies and Partners and it is committed to contribute to a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all communities living Kosovo, in accordance with the UNSCR 1244 of 1999.
