PRISTINA - In the last weeks, KFOR Commander, Major General Franco Federici, accompanied by the components of the different Liaison Monitoring Teams (LMT) visited the municipalities of Zubin Potok, Zveçan/Zvečan, Leposaviq/ Leposavić, Skenderaj/Srbica, Gjilan/Gnjilane and Rahovec/Orahovac.
During the different stages of the visit, each team Leader provided an update on the current daily engagements that the team has conducted and informed COMKFOR about the KFOR perception among the local communities.
Furthermore COMKFOR visited the Liaison Monitoring Teams' Field Houses and took the opportunity to make some walks in the cities center where he was warmly received by the locals. This aspect brought Major General Franco Federici to recognize the high professionalism and commitment performed by the KFOR soldiers in maintaining a supportive presence and attitude which have allowed over time, the increasing of the KFOR credibility.
Usually the Liaison and Monitoring Teams are tasked to provide to KFOR with situational awareness, through contact activities with the local institutions, International Organizations and particularly with the local population. They implement daily monitoring appointments in order to perceive the level of the economic, social and political situation.
NATO-led KFOR' s mission is to contribute in guaranteeing a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all citizens in Kosovo, as mandated by United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244.
