KFOR Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Battalion (ISR Bn) has a new Commander.

PRISTINA - KFOR Commander, Major General Franco Federici, appointed Lieutenant Colonel Gianpiero Sirianni as new commander of KFOR Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Battalion on 12 June in Camp Film City.

The Change of Command Ceremony took place at KFOR headquarters, and KFOR Commander expressed his and his staff appreciation for the results achieved by the Unit during the command of Lieutenant Colonel Manuel Cucco, who has been leading the Battalion since the last six months. In the same time General Federici wished good luck to the incoming Italian Officer who assumes this relevant responsibility for the time being.

The KFOR Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Battalion includes different essential structures of combined organizations and resources that have the intelligence surveillance and the reconnaissance as their primary functions and responsabilities. ISR missions can last for days and might require constant effort from multiple assets working in a synchronized manner. Highly trained professionals from nine contributing nations daily operate Kosovo wide to provide answers to intelligence requirements in time to support Commander's decisions. Therefore these specialist assets, in close coordination with the other forces and capabilities deployed within KFOR units, allow the longest-running NATO mission to continue to carry out its tasks as mandated by the Resolution 1244 of 1999 for the benefit of the all communities living in Kosovo.
