MAJOR GENERAL MICHELE RISI MEETS WITH ACTING PRIME MINISTER ALBIN KURTI

PRISTINA- The Commander of the NATO-led Kosovo Force, Major General Michele Risi was received today by the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, for a meeting focused on the general security situation and the response to the Covid19 pandemic. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Health Arben Vitia too.

General Risi reaffirmed the impartial commitment of KFOR to contribute to the safety and security and freedom of movement of all communities in Kosovo, under the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999. He also confirmed that KFOR capabilities have not been undermined by Covid19, thanks to the preventive and stringent measures taken since the beginning in all bases and facilities. A limited number of soldiers have been infected. They are being treated in KFOR medical facilities or recovering in their home countries.

Mr. Kurti and General Risi shared their mutual satisfaction for the excellent level of cooperation developed by the Health Institutions in Kosovo with KFOR and regional interlocutors; notably with respect to information sharing and support initiatives to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.

KFOR is continuing on a regular basis its activities under a UN mandate whilst taking all necessary precautions based on the recommendations of the World Health Organization in order to mitigate risks for its personnel and for all communities of Kosovo.
