KOSOVO POLICE'S APPRECIATION FOR THE ITALIAN CARABINIERI

PRISTINA- Italian Carabinieri belonging to KFOR’s Multinational Specialized Unit were presented by the Kosovo Police Regional Direction of South Mitrovica a certificate of appreciation for their proactive contribution in the prompt conclusion of a criminal case.

At the end of July the Carabinieri-team usually stationed on Mitrovica’s Ibar bridge rescued a women who had escaped from a kidnapping, and called for the Kosovo Police intervention. The Italian servicemen subsequently supported the local investigation that – also thanks to the Italian Embassy – led to the arrest of the alleged kidnapper, an Italo-Kosovar citizen.

KFOR’s Multinational Specialized Unit operates impartially Kosovo-wide to contribute to a safe and secure environment and to freedom of movement for all citizens in Kosovo, in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999. Moreover, the Italian Carabinieri – in close coordination with the Red Cross - conduct assistance projects in favour of all communities in Kosovo, within the framework of KFOR civil-military activities in support of health and education institutions, as well as of the local response to Covid19.
