KOSOVO: ITALIAN MILITARY DOCTORS SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES ON RESPONSE TO COVID-19

PRISTINA - The Italian Foreign and Defence Ministers and Institutions in Kosovo have just concluded a second webinar entitled “Hospital management of Covid-19 patients: the Italian experience for Kosovo”.

The event – which is part of a bilateral cooperation project sponsored by the Italian Foreign and Defence Ministries - was organized by the Italian Military Medical Team currently deployed to Kosovo in the framework of the Italian assistance to local Institutions in their response to the pandemic.

The Ambassador of Italy Nicola Orlando opened the seminar with a welcome to all participants. This was followed by an address by Major General Michele Risi, the commander of the NATO-led KFOR mission, which is providing logistical support to the Military Medical Team.

Through several panels Italian infectiologists and anaesthesiologists shared their first-hand experiences in the management of the pandemic with their colleagues in Kosovo. All panels were held in English, with translation in Albanian and Serbian.

The Italian Military Medical team consists of doctors and professional nurses from the Italian Armed Forces who were deployed to northern Italy provinces at the outbreak of the Coronavirus crisis. In the last three weeks, the team conducted a survey of all major hospitals in Kosovo and established an excellent cooperation and information-sharing with their Kosovar colleagues.
