KFOR Carabinieri assist communities in need amidst COVID-19

PRISTINA - Italian Carabinieri of KFOR assist communities in need amidst COVID-19 emergency.

Over 50 donations of food and clothes worth 70,000 Euro have been performed in 14 municipalities of Kosovo since the beginning of the year by KFOR Multinational Specialized Unit (MSU).

Aid packages are directly delivered to charities and distressed families by the MSU's Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC), in close coordination with the Red Cross.

MSU Donations are part of KFOR CIMIC projects and are planned and conducted every week, proving to be extremely helpful amidst the COVID-19 emergency. The MSU is formed by police forces with military status whose main mission is to provide the NATO-led mission with a capability for security operations including criminal intelligence, crowd and riots control as well as information gathering and assessment.
The Unit can also provide advice, training and support to local police forces on a wide range of policing issues if required.

MSU is continuing its mission regularly in the framework of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999, whilst adopting - like all KFOR units - all preventive measures recommended by the World Health Organization against COVID-19.
