Pristina - The Health Center of Peje/Pec received today from KFOR thousands of masks and gloves, hundreds of face shields and isolation clothing, in addition to goggles, boot covers, infrared contactless thermometers and antiseptic hand liquid.
The delivery was performed by the Italian Civil-Military Cooperation Team belonging to Regional Command West, in the framework of a larger donation of personal protection equipment to medical facilities, family health centers, police stations and other beneficiaries Kosovo-wide. KFOR's initiative will further support in an impartial way the ongoing response to COVID19 by the Institutions in Kosovo through the provision of equipment for medical staff and police officers who operate daily against the virus.
Deliveries will continue for the next two weeks and will take place in 17 cities, with the involvement of KFOR Liaison and Monitoring Teams and other units of the Italian-led Regional Command West and US-led Regional Command East. This is the second project implemented by KFOR, after the delivery of personal protective equipment to the hospitals of Pristina and Gracanica that took place last April.
Both projects were funded by NATO and are part of the overall commitment of the Alliance is support of its operations and of its member countries and partners. From the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, KFOR has continued its activities on a regular basis, whilst implementing prudent and robust measures – in accordance with the guidelines of the World Health Organization - to limit the virus' spread and minimize risks for its soldiers and for the communities they serve.
