Armenian Change of Command

KFOR Deputy Commander, Brigadier General Reinhard Ruckenstuhl, presided over the Change of Command of the Armenian contingent.

The passing of the Armenian colours from the 29th Commander Captain Artak Petrosyan, and the 30th Commander Major Gor Zaqaryan represents the passing of trust and responsibility. It also ensures that soldiers are never without official leadership.

Addressing the troops, DCOMKFOR expressed his appreciation for the important work done by Armenian soldiers.

Armenian forces commenced its peacekeeping mission to Kosovo in 2004. With the deployment of peacekeepers as a part of NATO forces under the Greek command with KFOR.
Having a firm believer in the values of freedom, cooperation and peace, Armenia further expanded its involvement in peacekeeping through its deployment to Iraq between 2003 –2008 and to the international security assistance force in Afghanistan in 2010.

Additionally,Armenia has deployed troops to Lebanon with the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission and most recently in 2015 to UN MINUSMA in Mali.

Through all these deployments, Armenia exemplifies its unconditional adherence to the fundamental principle that maintenance of international peace and security is the responsibility of all the States, whether big or small. Currently the Armenian contingent in Kosovo performs key roles providing security at KFOR Military Airport in Pristina.
