Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria visited KFOR
KFOR Commander, Major General Salvatore Cuoci, welcomed in Camp Film City H. E. Mr. Sebastian Kurz, the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria and chair of the European Union's rotating presidency until the end of 2018.
During the visit, Chancellor Kurz had a meeting with General Cuoci, on which occasion they discussed the security situation in Kosovo and in the Western Balkans area. They also spoke about the role of KFOR in providing a Safe and Secure Environment and Freedom of Movement to all people in Kosovo as a factor of stability in the region.
At the end of the meeting COMKFOR took the opportunity to express his appreciation for the great professionalism of the Austrian contingent. Afterwards, Chancellor Kurz addressed representatives of the contingent currently present in the mission.
Many Austrian soldiers are deployed abroad in peacekeeping missions, among which KFOR is the biggest. Currently Austria is the largest non-NATO and the 3rd overall contributing country.
