Supreme Allied Commander Europe visits KFOR


PRISTINA, Kosovo. Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Curtis M. Scaparrotti visited NATO’s Kosovo Force Headquarters here today, on February 21st.
 
During his visit, General Scaparrotti was met by Major General Giovanni Fungo, Commander for Kosovo Forces (KFOR), and was briefed on the latest developments in the current security and socio-political situation in Kosovo. Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Curtis M. Scaparrotti visited NATO’s Kosovo Force Headquarters.

 During his visit, General Scaparrotti was met by Major General Giovanni Fungo and was briefed on the latest developments in the current security and socio-political situation in Kosovo. 
In particular, the KFOR Staff highlighted the important results achieved by KFOR to ensure a secure environment and freedom of movement. 

General Scaparrotti also met with the "Quint Ambassadors” of France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom and United States as well as Representatives of the International Community in Kosovo - namely UNMIK Special Representative, EU Special Representative, EULEX and the OSCE Heads of Mission. 

During these gatherings, they discussed the importance of mutual cooperation among the International Community Organizations and Institutions in Kosovo, to enhance, through dialogue, the stability and the overall security of Kosovo.

"The stability of the Western Balkans is of critical importance for NATO,” said General Scaparrotti.  "KFOR is our longest running operation and plays a key role in a stable security situation to provide the time and space needed for diplomatic progress.” 

Scaparrotti concluded the press conference saying, "As Kosovo steps forward and embraces its own future, NATO will remain committed to doing its part.  This is a conditions-based process.  We will keep in place a flexible, deterrent presence and will make changes only when the security situation allows.”
