MSU and KP training on Environmental Course


PRISTINA - KFOR Deputy Commander, Brigadier General Christian RIENER presided over the ceremony of Carabinieri Multinational Specialised Unit's Final Environmental Crime Course, held in Pristina. The event was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Kosovo, H. E. Piero Cristoforo SARDI and the General Director of Kosovo Police, Colonel Shpend MAXHUNI.

Environmental Protection Training began on September 4 th and was conducted by MSU Special Environmental Unit, specifically sent by Italian Defence General Staff in order to train KP in fighting environmental crimes and exploitation.

The course was focused on various aspects, such as interaction between humans and the environment, environmental pollution’s effects on humans and nutrition, international organizations related to environmental protection, practical activities, as well as protocols, treaties, conventions and international regulations related to transportation of dangerous goods.

Environmental crimes cause enormous damage in terms of ecologic and economic impact in the region. KFOR, in close coordination with Kosovo Police and in accordance with its mandate, will make all possible efforts to contribute in preventing any unauthorized activity and normalize the situation.
