Moldovan Contingent Transfer of Authority


On December 11, 2017, at the Camp 'Villaggio Italia’, was held the ceremony of transfer of authority (TOA) of the Moldovan contingent involved in the NATO mission in Kosovo. The ceremony was attended by the MNBG-W Commander Colonel Enzo Ceruzzi. The Lieutenant Colonel Andrej Taranu of the Moldovan Armed Forces was replaced by Major Ruslan Vrivanov as National Commander of the Moldovan Contingent in Kosovo.

The outgoing contingent Commander thanked soldiers for the high level of professionalism demonstrated, and the contribution offered in order to achieve the KFOR goals. The new Moldovan contingent will continue to carry out its mission of maintaining a secure environment and guaranteeing freedom of movement in Kosovo in accordance with the mandate specified by UNSC Resolution 1244.

The Moldovan contingent consists of 41 soldiers divided into an infantry platoon and an EOD team both from 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion of Moldovan National Army based in Chisinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova. It participates to the main operational activities including training, joint patrols and, significantly it provides security to the Decani Monastery, where KFOR maintain responsibility as 1st responder.
