KFOR: THE ORTHODOX CHRISTMAS AT DECANE MONASTERY

Peja, January the 9th 2017 – The liturgical celebrations of the Orthodox Christmas, that falls on the 7 th of January according to the Gregorian calendar adopted by the Orthodox Church, has been celebrated by the believers also at the Monastery of Visoki Decane, a venue of extraordinary historical and cultural importance, built up between 1327 and 1335, and inserted in the UNESCO’S world heritage list.

The security of the Monastery, according to the NATO’s mission, is provided by soldiers of MNBG-W that, even in these days of severe weather conditions (snow, strong winds and cold temperatures till -25 degrees), continued to carry out their mission with remarkable professionalism.
