KFOR assists Fire Brigade in Fire Estinguishing Operations

PRISTINA, Kosovo. Since last night at 21:00 hours, KFOR has been operating in support of the local communities to extinguish a fire occurred in Zvecan Municipality in proximity of the Sokolica Monastery.

Three helicopters belonging to the United States and to the Swiss contingents conducted over 60 sorties, coordinated, on the ground, by KFOR Joint Regional Detachment Nord (JRD (N)) personnel in close cooperation with the local authorities and the Mitrovica Fire Brigade.

The high professionalism, devotion and commitment of all parties involved in the operations ensured the safeguard of the Monastery and the successful outcome of this complex activity. According to the reports of the operators on the spot the fire is expected to be extinguished before sunset.
