Exercise “Silver Sabre 2017-1”

PRISTINA, Kosovo – Exercise Silver Sabre 2017-1, took place today, April 13th, in Camp Pomazatin and Camp Vrelo. This Bi-annual KFOR led exercise was conducted for KFOR Units along with Kosovo Police (KP), European Union Rule of Law in Kosovo (EULEX), the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) and the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) to test their readiness and interoperability while working within each unit’s particular mandate. Today was the culmination of two weeks of training by all personnel involved.

The Commanders intent was to ensure that this year’s exercise, built on the experiences and learning from Silver Sabre 2016-2, should raise the tempo and insert new training events that would test the skills of all participants.

The exercise began with an address by COMKFOR, Major General Giovanni Fungo, who stressed the importance of the ongoing excellent cooperation between KFOR and the other participating organisations and how interoperability and a common understanding of each other’s systems and procedures was essential.

In attendance at today’s exercise along with COMKFOR, were distinguished guests and media, who witnessed first-hand the high level of professionalism that was evident during this dynamic phase of the exercise.
