COMKFOR received the JFC-Naples Chief of Staff


PRISTINA - KFOR Commander, Major General Salvatore CUOCI, received the visit of Lieutenant General Luciano PORTOLANO, Joint Force Command Naples Chief of Staff and Head of European Union Command Element.

Allied Joint Force Command Naples is one of two Joint Force Commands in the NATO Command Structure. Its mission is to prepare for, plan and conduct military operations in order to preserve the peace, security and territorial integrity of Alliance member states. In addition, JFC Naples is to contribute to crisis management and deterrence by ensuring that assigned headquarters and forces are at the designated state of readiness for the conduct and support of operations and to conduct prudent operational level military analysis and planning that includes the identification of required forces.

That is the reason why General PORTOLANO held a meeting with KFOR HQ staff in order to discuss about the main topics and the ongoing activities that KFOR is performing. During the meeting, General PORTOLANO, also underlined that KFOR is a success story for the Alliance and our partners. It has contributed to the progressive normalization of the security situation in the region. NATO’s commitment to KFOR remains a key element of our efforts to project stability in western balkans.

After a general overview about the situation in Kosovo, Major General CUOCI highlighted the strong cooperation among all the 28 KFOR’s nations and the daily relationship with International Community and Institutions in Kosovo. Through its "ENDURING COMMITMENT” KFOR is operating to maintain a safe and secure environment and guarantee the freedom of movement in accordance with its current mandate.
