SWISS PARLIAMENT REPRESENTATIVES VISIT KOSOVO


Pristina, 11th November 2016. A delegation of members of the Swiss Parliament visited, from 9th to 11th , the Swiss troops of Kosovo Force (KFOR) to visualise the work of the Swiss soldiers in Kosovo.

As part of their stay, the Parliamentarians also met COMKFOR, Major General Giovanni Fungo. During the meeting, the discussions covered the current and prospective situation in Kosovo, as well as the Switzerland’s role within Kosovo Force.

General Fungo underlined the importance of the engagement of Switzerland to KFOR. Switzerland supports KFOR with important assets such as engineers and heavy vehicles drivers in the Joint Logistic Support Group (JLSG), JRD North, LMT and KFOR Staff personnel. The Swiss contingent amounts to about 240 units.

Corina Eichenberger, President of the Swiss Federal Council, stressed how the Swiss Contingent has supported KFOR to maintain a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all citizens and communities in Kosovo.
