RWDOB SWISS COMPOUND INAUGURATION


PRISTINA, Kosovo. Today Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, KFOR Commander, received Major General Philippe Rebord, Commander of Swiss Armed Forces College, Chief of Staff Operational Training and Deputy Chief of the Swiss Armed Forces, at the KFOR Headquarters in Camp "Film City”.
 
 
The high ranking Officers discussed the overall security situation in Kosovo and they agreed on the strategic importance of the Military Air Port of Disembarkation (APOD), located in Slatina – Pristina, in allowing KFOR troop contributing nations to conduct their air transport and medical evacuation operations in support of the NATO mission and on the importance of the Rotary Wing Deployed Operating Base (RWDOB) in providing the mission essential airlift capability to KFOR units and the Tactical Reserve.
 
 
After the meeting, both Generals attended the inauguration ceremony of the RWDOB Swiss compound, which took place at the Slatina Military APOD.
 
 
KFOR Commander in his speech, highlighting the importance of this vital KFOR asset, remarked that "RWDOB will be a key enabler for NATO and KFOR to be able to cope with any evolving scenario in Kosovo through the provision of a lean, efficient and cost-effective force”.
 
 
General Miglietta concluded his address thanking the Swiss contingent for the extremely important contribution that allowed the Initial Operational Capability of the RWDOB to be achieved in a seamless and timely manner.  He also expressed his appreciation for the professionalism of the Swiss service members in maintaining a high level of security throughout Kosovo.
