PRISTINA, Kosovo. Today, the Change of Command ceremony for NATO Liaison and Advisory Team (NLAT) was held in Camp "Film City”, KFOR Headquarters, in Pristina. The ceremony marked the handover of command between the outgoing German Brigadier General Stefan Linus Fix and the incoming German Brigadier General Ernst-Peter Horn, as NLAT Director.

The event was attended by KFOR Commander Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, representatives of International Community and the Kosovo Security Forces leadership.

Reflecting on his mission, General Fix summarized his period as NLAT Director by saying: "KFOR and NLAT are working closely together and have to achieve the same objective: to contribute to the development of the Kosovo Security Organization”. He added "to reach and keep the NATO standards is the final goal for the development of the Kosovo Security Force and this is always a challenge”.

KFOR Commander expressed his congratulations for the results achieved by the NLAT, who have performed their tasks in an outstanding way, demonstrating professionalism and competence.

As tasked by the North Atlantic Council (NAC), the NLAT supports the ongoing development of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) within its current mandate through the provision of advice and support at brigade level and above. This support aims to contribute to internal security and confidence building within Kosovo as well as among regional actors.

The NLAT advice to the KSF focuses on the topics of capacity building and training, leadership, command and control, training, doctrine, logistics, Communications and Information Systems (CIS), force development, force planning, and systems for personnel vetting and management. In addition, the NLAT manages and delivers NATO assistance in order to facilitate the continued professional development of the KSF.
