MEDICAL EVACUATION TRAINING AT CAMP FILM CITY

PRISTINA, Kosovo. KFOR medical teams from Camp Film City, Multinational Specialized Unit (MSU), KFOR’S Tactical Reserve Maneuver Battalion (KTM) and personnel from the 43rd German Contingent, took part in a Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) training exercise on 02 Mar 16.

The focus of this exercise was to practice the preparation procedures for evacuation of casualties by helicopter. Drills such as how to approach the aircraft with walking wounded and while carrying litters (stretchers), proper patient loading techniques and calling in a ‘9-liner’ MEDEVAC request, were also practiced.

This was a new experience for the medical teams as most training involves patient loading and evacuation with ground transport. Aircrew and instructors from Camp Bondsteel utilized a UH-60 Blackhawk and various patient scenarios to allow the medical teams to practice loading the aircraft for maximum patient load.
