KFOR ROLE 1 CONDUCTS MEDEVAC EXERCISE

PRISTINA, Kosovo. A Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC) exercise was conducted, at Film City, by the Italian Role 1 first response Team with the purpose of rigorously testing the readiness and capabilities of the Medical teams in both assessing, having first treatment and evacuating a priority casualty via helicopter in collaboration with U.S. MEDEVAC crew.

The exercise was based on an individual injured in a Road Traffic Accident (RTA). The Medical Team assesses the primary survey, stabilized the patient and it makes him ready for the evacuation.

They then requested a MEDEVAC Helicopter to bring the patient for further treatment to the next medical treatment facility.

A key objective of the exercise was to accomplish the necessary training and drills within the so called "Golden Hour” the vital period that can make the difference between life and death for an individual following a serious injury, in accordance with the 10-1- 2 NATO doctrine.
