KFOR HOLDS HIGH LEVEL TALKS WITH FORMER YUGOSLAV REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA

PRISTINA, Kosovo. Today, at Kosovo Force Headquarters High Level Talks were held between KFOR Commander, Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta and the Chief of General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski.

The high ranking Officers discussed the overall situation in Kosovo and the latest developments in the current security situation in the Balkans.

Regarding the subject of migrants flow throughout the Balkans, they agreed on the requirement to reach a comprehensive, humanitarian and political solution through the involvement of all the international actors.

General Velichkovski highlighted the importance of KFOR’s presence in Kosovo and the ability of KFOR to work in a constructive way and in close coordination with all the stakeholders in Kosovo and the bordering countries.

KFOR, as a third responder in maintaining a Safe and Secure Environment and Freedom of Movement in Kosovo, continues to fully accomplish its tasks, according to the NATO mandate, fostering all the activities for the implementation of the stabilization process in the region.

KFOR’s mission remains unchanged and any change to KFOR’s future force posture will be based on careful analysis of the conditions on the ground.

General Miglietta highlighted the importance of continuing dialogue and cooperation with all the stakeholders at Balkan regional level.

These meetings are part of the high-level talks within COMKFOR’s agenda aimed to increase dialogue and mutual military understanding among the countries bordering Kosovo.
