KFOR HELPED DEVIC MONASTERY COMMUNITY

Pristina, November 26 th , 2016. From 12nd to 23rd November 2016, KFOR Joint Logistic Support Group (JLSG) personnel, in close cooperation with Joint Regional Detachment – Center (JRD-C) ended the removal of HESCO bastions (military fortifications) from Devic monastery, in Skenderaj municipality. The removal was performed following an official request advanced by Serbian Orthodox Nuns living in the Monastery.

After the fulfilment of the unfixing process, concluded in 2012, the cleaning up of KFOR remains facilities in vicinity of the aforementioned religious area is a clear signal of the improvement of the security situation in that region.

Furthermore, this action should be considered as an additional example of the unceasing and unambiguous KFOR support to all communities Kosovo wide.

Devic Monastery was built in the first half of the 15th century and was first endowed by Joannicius of Devic (born in the 14th century).
