KFOR COMMANDER VISITS KACANIK MUNICIPALITY


PRISTINA, Kosovo. Today, Kosovo Force Commander, Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, visited Kacanik Municipality and met the Mayor, Mr. Besim Ilazi, in the City Hall of the town.

During the meeting they discussed the current security situation in Kosovo focusing on the migration flows and the phenomenon of foreign fighters that affect the Balkans region.

The mayor expressed to KFOR’s Commander his appreciation and gratitude for the impartial and effective posture of KFOR in maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all the people of Kosovo.

"KFOR is the primary factor of our security”, concluded Mayor Ilazi.

During the visit Kosovo Force Commander met troops of Joint Regional Detachment South (JRD-S), operating on the ground at their field office in Kacanik.

Speaking to KFOR’s Liaison Monitoring Team (LMT) - Kilo 22, General Miglietta congratulated them for their high professionalism and encouraged them to continue the way of "Shaping the Change”.

The current KFOR posture includes three Joint Regional Detachments (JRDs), covering different areas, from the North to the South: JRD-North HQ in Novo Selo, at "Camp Marechal de Lattre de Tassigny”, JRD-Centre HQ in Pristina, at "Camp Film City” and JRD-South HQ in Prizren, at "Camp Sultan Murat”.

KFOR’s posture is shaped in accordance with the security situation on the ground. KFOR remains firmly committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement all over Kosovo.
