JFC NAPLES AND KFOR COMMANDER MEETS WITH EU REPRESENTATIVE, ‘QUINT’ AMBASSADORS


PRISTINA, Kosovo. Allied Joint Force Command Naples Commander, U.S. Navy Admiral Mark Ferguson and Italian Army Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, Kosovo Force (KFOR) Commander, met with a European Union representative and ‘Quint’ ambassadors, March 18, 2016.

The meeting was attended by the Head of the EU Office and EU Special Representative in Kosovo, Samuel Žbogar as well as the "Quint” ambassadors, which refers to the representatives of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States.

In addition to the meeting, Adm. Ferguson was briefed by KFOR’s headquarters staff at Camp Film City on the latest developments in the security situation in Kosovo as well as the wider Balkans region. Adm. Ferguson and Maj. Gen. Miglietta additionally discussed the importance of KFOR’s role, as the third responder, to support Kosovo Police and EULEX, within their role as first and second responder in maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement in the area of operations.

The JFC Naples commander also visited KFOR's Tactical Reserve Manoeuvre Battalion, a unit comprised of Portuguese and Hungarian soldiers, supporting KFOR's mandate according to UN resolution 1244. As tactical reserve, KTM is extremely flexible and able to rapidly deploy on a very short notice, ready to respond wherever and whenever needed.
