ITALIAN JOINT OPERATIONS HEADQUARTERS COMMANDER VISITED KFOR


Pristina, 23rd December 2016. Today, the Italian Joint Operations Headquarters Commander (ITA COM JOHQ) Vice Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, was welcomed at the KFOR Headquarters in Pristina by COMKFOR, Major General Giovanni Fungo.

During the meeting, the high rank Officers discussed the current security situation in the area and the KFOR´s commitments to ensure a secure environment, thus allowing the development of better social and economic conditions for all people in Kosovo.

COM JOHQ expressed his appreciation for the contribution to security and stability in the region. COMKFOR underlined the positive and close cooperation with local municipalities, KP, EULEX, and with all the other international organizations, in order to maintain a Safe and Secure Environment and Freedom of Movement throughout Kosovo.

During his visit, the Joint Operations Headquarters Commander met with the Italian Armed Forces personnel deployed in Camp "Film City” KFOR Headquarters and Camp MSU, the Multinational Specialized Unit’s base, to whom he expressed his appreciation for their commitment and their contribution to the success of the mission.

The Italian contribution in KFOR began in June 1999 and currently more than 550 Italian service members are deployed in Kosovo. Since 2013, Italy is the lead nation of the KFOR HQ, MNBG West, Multinational Specialized Unit and Joint Regional Detachment Centre (JRD-C).
