ITALIAN CHIEF OF THE ARMY VISITS ITALIAN KFOR CONTINGENT

PRISTINA, Kosovo. KFOR Commander Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta welcomed the Italian Chief of the Army, Lieutenant General Danilo Errico, at KFOR Headquarters in Pristina.

During the meeting, General Errico was briefed on the current security situation and KFOR´s role in ensuring a secure environment in Kosovo.

General Miglietta emphasised the role of KFOR, as the third responder, supporting Kosovo Police and EULEX, in maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement in the area of operations.

General Errico had also the opportunity to visit the Italian Army lead units: the Joint Regional Detachment Centre (JRD-C) and the Multinational Battle Group West (MNBG-W) in Pec. He expressed his appreciation and pride in the valuable work performed by the Italian contingent and thanked them for their professionalism and their dedication to the mission.

The Italian contribution in KFOR began in June 1999 and, currently, around 570 Italian service members are deployed across Kosovo.

Before completing his visit to KFOR, General Errico was welcomed by the Abbot of the Decani Monastery, Father Sava who thanked the Italian Contingent for providing security at the Monastery from 1999.
