EXERCISE SILVER SABRE - 2

KOSOVO, 21 -26 November, 2016. From November 21 – 26, KFOR will exercise its Headquarters teams operational and tactical muscles in the planning and execution of both Civil Disturbances and Natural Disaster simulations. KFOR, in close cooperation with Kosovo Police (KP), EULEX, and the Kosovo Security Forces (KSF) will take part in a joint exercise culminating many weeks of coordinating, planning and training. These professionally coordinated exercises will be conducted in Camp Film City, Camp Vrelo and Camp Pomazatin.

Silver Sabre-2 targets two primary success measures. First is to test and measure the KFOR overall operational readiness. Second is to demonstrate, as a tier three responder, a full commitment to ensuring SASE and FOM throughout all of Kosovo. Other elements will be exercised in a varety of scenarios as they pertain to exercise mandates:

  • KP, in the Crowd Riot Control (CRC) role as a first responder;
  • EULEX, in the CRC role as a second responder;
  • KSF, in the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defence (CBRN) role according to their mission, response operations in Kosovo and abroad in Civil Protection Operations, Natural Disaster and other emergencies.

The Silver Sabre Exercise is a phenomenal opportunity for KFOR to improve on their ability to collaborate and coordinate with other pillar security providers in Kosovo.
