Pristina, December 22nd , 2016. COMKFOR, Major General Giovanni Fungo,
received the visit of the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International
Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, at Camp "Film City” NATO KFOR
Headquarters in Pristina.
The Italian Minister and COMKFOR discussed the latest developments in the
current security and political situation in Kosovo. General Fungo highlighted the
importance of the role of KFOR in contributing, as the third responder, to
support Kosovo Police, EULEX and all local and international organizations.
The Foreign Minister also visited the MSU (Multinational Specialised Unit)
compound in Pristina. Here, he met with representatives of the Italian Armed
Forces employed in the NATO Kosovo Force (KFOR). Minister Alfano thanked
the Italian Contingent how supports KFOR to maintain a safe and secure
environment and freedom of movement for all communities in Kosovo, under
the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244.
Italy is one of the most
important contributors of KFOR troops since 1999 and today there are about 550
Italian soldiers serving in Kosovo.
