COMKFOR MET THE COMMANDER OF THE AUSTRIAN JOINT FORCES

Pristina, 8 th November 2016. KFOR Commander, Major General Giovanni Fungo, met today the Commander of the Austrian Joint Forces Lieutenant General Franz Reissner, at Camp "Film City” NATO KFOR Headquarters in Pristina.

The overall security situation in Kosovo was the main topic discussed during the meeting. General Fungo expressed his appreciation for the professionalism of the Austrian contingent. Austria contributes with approximately 500 service members who are mainly deployed in Peja, as part of the Multinational Battle Group West and as members of KFOR HQ staff.

Austrian troops, along with other Multinational Battle Group West contingents from Italy, Moldova and Slovenia contribute to maintaining a safe and secure environment in Western Kosovo. They pay particular attention to the security at Decane monastery where there is a constant presence of KFOR troops.

General Reissner confirmed that Austria will continue to support KFOR’s mission in maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement throughout Kosovo.
