COMKFOR MET SWISS JOURNALISTS

Pristina, November 15 th , 2016. This week, a group of Swiss journalists conducted a visit to the Swiss KFOR contingent in Kosovo.

The aim of their visit is to get a deeper understanding of the activities of the Swiss soldiers in Kosovo. Switzerland supports KFOR with important assets such as engineers and heavy vehicles drivers who work with the Joint Logistic Support Group (JLSG). Swiss troops also are part of JRD North, LMT, EOD-teams and the troops for the International Military Police (IMP) and KFOR HQ Staff.

As part of their stay, the journalists also met the Commander of Kosovo Force, Major General Giovanni Fungo. Discussed topics during the meeting were the current and prospective situation in Kosovo. They were also briefed in relation to, KFOR’s tasks and indeed Switzerland’s role as a part of Kosovo Force and Swiss contingents commitment to the KFOR mission.

General Fungo emphasiesed the importance of Switzerland’s participation with KFOR, and in particular the Swiss contingents role in supporting a peaceful, stable and multi-ethnic Kosovo, in full compliance with UN mandate.
